BMW E46 Subframe Reinforcement Plates (Wide Style)

We all know that the E46 floors start to tear or crack over time around the rear subframe. They are not only caused by spirited driving, but also corrosion. We have seen many low mileage cars with cracks around the rear subframe. It is important to address this issue before the chassis damage gets any worse.

Do I need reinforcement plates?
If you plan on enjoying and keeping your E46, then we recommend you weld reinforcement plates as soon as possible. This issue can not be avoided, there’s no way around it. One day or the other, the floors will crack. We have seen daily drivers with craks around the subframe mounting point. Road racing and drifting accelerates the process, as it induces a lot of stress on the chassis. Torn floors are dangerous, as the subframe can drop on the ground at any moment.

How is this kit different from the others?
We use a wide style design that covers a much wider portion of the chassis, in order to be as strong as possible. In order to get the most out of the plates, we cut the plates on the inside so that they can be plug welded. A wide plate that isn’t plug welded is useless. Our steel plates are beefy enough to reinforce the floors, while retaining some malleability.

I plan on doing track days, is this kit strong enough?
This kit is made for race cars. We designed our reinforcement plates to prevent any damage the hardest conditions of motorsports can create. They are ideal for road racing or drifting. They are welded under a lot of V8 powered cars without any issues. Once welded in, you will not be able to tear the floors, no matter the horsepower or tire size you use.

How do I install them?
These reinforcement plates are made to be welded. We recommend a professional installation. Failing to install these plates in the state of the art could result in useless work. In order to come into effect, the plates must be welded directly on the chassis. You can not leave any gap in between the plates and the body.

What’s included?
One plate covers the front driver side floor, another covers the front passenger side floor, a third covers the rear driver side floor, and a fourth covers the rear passenger side floor. We also supply two reinforcement plates for the crossmember section.

Do they fit my car?
It fits all BMW E46.

Is there any other weak points to the E46?
Lastly, we strongly recommend you also reinforce the front and rear strut towers of your E46. These are two other well known weak spots of this car.
