Description
We know how weak the original engine mounts are. When they wear, you start to hear clunking noises and movements under the hood when accelerating or even decelerating. An engine mount dampens vibrations and keeps the engine in place. A blown engine mounts can break other drivetrain components, such as the transmission mounts or even fan blades, expansion tanks, coolant hoses and other parts much quicker. On the E36 and E46, they are known to dent the hood, from jumping up as the engine powers in a clocking rotation. The engine mount located on the driver side usually fails first. That is, again, caused by the engine turning in a clocking rotation.
Do I need solid engine mounts?
If you’re road racing or drifting, yes. The original rubber mounts will give up, again and again. There’s no way around it. They were designed to drive in traffic, not to last under hardcore driving. We strongly recommend upgrading to solid engine mounts for reliability and performance. While rubber mounts damp and absorb power for comfort, solid ones tranfers the engine power directly to the rear wheels.
How is this kit different from the others?
Other kits have their fastener pressed directly in the material, it leads to a bad tightening. Our unique design provide a strong compression in the mount, even if the mount is under tension. Taking the fastener anchor point from the opposite side of the mount, makes this a game changer. Not only does this make it a lot stronger than any other Delrin mount on the market, it also enables the mount to be modular.
Why Delrin?
Many other manufacturers choose Aluminium or Polyurethane as their material. As per aluminium, the increase of noise and vibrations is unbearable. The Delrin assembly is much lighter than aluminium. Delrin is just as solid, while dampening better. The mounts we manufacture can be daily driven with ease. Polyurethane is known for their inferior heat resistance. Like the rubber mounts, they will eventually shear or fragment into pieces.
I see 3 height settings, which one is best for me?
OEM Replacement Height : They keep the engine at the stock location. This one is better suited for the daily drivers and drift cars.
Center Gravity Correction : They lower the engine by 5mm. This one is better suited for road racing. The lower your engine is, the less its weight rolls over as you’re turning.
Low Boy Clearance : This one is better suited for rally racing or extremely lowered cars. It will keep you safe from breaking oil pans.
What’s included?
We provide two Delrin solid engine mounts, with all four zinc serrated hex flange nuts. You do not need to source anything else, all is in there.
We offer a lifetime warranty on this product when it is paired with our solid transmission mounts.
Do they fit my car?
This kit fits :
All BMW E36
All BMW E46 in RWD.
Installation Note for Low Boy Configuration:
- The fan shroud will need to be modified slightly to make clearance for the fan position moving up.
- May need to trim the lower radiator hose .5″ to clear the AC belt.
- The Vanos cover could make contact with the hood on 98 328is.
- The engine hook on top of the motor needs to be removed
- The fan shroud will need to be raised by 1 inch.
