Behing the parts...

Tech-53 first started in 2014 as a one-man team operating a manual lathe in his basement. If you were a Volkswagen enthusiast back then, chances are you were active on the internet forum VW Vortex. Many people from the MK1 community were looking for the no-longer-available VW MK1 Lower Steering Column Bearings. Luckily, a very passionate Scirocco-lover forum member named Frederic found a way to recreate the piece and told the community. He slowly began producing parts as orders came in from all directions. The word started to spread and the demand for the steering column bearing was rising. One day, Fred woke up to an order of 100 units, shipped to Europe. What began as weekend parts manufacturing was no longer a hobby; it was now business. Fred decided to officially start Tech-53.

The more he went down the MK1 rabbit hole, Fred realized that VW discontinued a ton of other parts for the Scirocco. One part number at a time, Fred successfully replicated many VW parts in his own way. Like the Rabbit, the Scirocco was also a mass-produced economy car for everyday drivers. A lot of parts were cheap and fragile so they could cut the cost of production. Fred decided that the replacement parts he manufactured were going to last. He picked stronger materials and designed his parts to outperform the original design. As he continued to make parts for his own cars, Fred also offered to the public his creations through a website he built from scratch. Transmission swap mounts, tubular control arms, big brake kits with two-piece rotors, his catalogue kept growing.

This passion for cars and the non-stop dreaming of better parts that would improve the driving quality has been passed on to his son. Even though he grew up around the MK1s and still owns one, his son Gabriel found love in BMW — specifically the E36 chassis. In late 2020, he decided to push Tech-53 even further. He spent an entire year building a new, cleaner and faster website that would now also feature his very own parts for the E36.

The name Tech-53 is a dedication to the VW MK1 Scirocco. Its factory code is Type 53. On the other hand, « Tech » stands for Technology. Together they represent a mission of pushing the limit without compromise to drive harder, faster through craftmanship and technology.

Tech-53 is a family business driven by pure passion. With a team of true car enthusiasts, the track days keep our spirit alive and our drive for excellence never stops. All the parts listed on our website have found their way in our cars. Our workshop is equipped with a CNC lathe, CNC mill, 3D printer, 3D scanner, TIG welder, and laser cutter—everything we need to turn imagination into reality.

From Monday to Friday, our team is here to guide you in choosing the perfect parts for your project. Welcome to Tech-53!
