BMW Stand Alone Dual Hydro Stainless Steel Braided Lines DOT Compliant

From: $139.99

Description

It’s no secret that handbrakes are used quite often when drifting. Unfortunately, the BMW handbrake cables tend to extend with time, and decrease in performance at each pull. For many years people have started to install hydraulic handbrake systems in order to keep a reliable feedback from the e-brake lever. In this kit you will find everything you need to install an hydraulic handbrake for your drift car.

Do I need an hydraulic handbrake system?
If you plan on taking drifting seriously, your BMW will need an hydraulic handbrake down the road. The factory handbrake does not last. We tried new cables, extenders, everything. It slowly becomes worst after each pull. In some situations, pulling on the handbrake can possibly keep you from crashing. The last thing you want is to pull on the handbrake and there’s no feedback. You want to keep control of your car at all times, and get as familiar as possible with how the car reacts to your inputs. You can not reach your full potential driving an unpredictable ride.

What do I need to install an hydraulic handbrake system?
First, you need another pair of calipers (and brake pads for it). You can install an additional caliper on your trailing arm with one of our weld-on brackets. Once they are installed, you need a line kit, a master cylinder and a lever. All of those parts are available right here on this page.

How do I install an hydraulic handbrake system?
First, you must fix your handbrake lever where it’s easy to reach. Then, bolt your master cylinder on your lever. Take out the longest 72 inch long stainless steel lines from this kit. Connect one end to the master cylinder outlet with the supplied banjo fitting, banjo bolt and crush washers. After that, start routing it towards the rear section of your car. Then, use the bulkhead TEE fitting we provide to open a split connection. Fix that bulkhead TEE fitting on your body with the nut that comes in the kit. Take out one of the two remaining lines. Thread one end on the driver side of your bulkhead TEE fitting. Use one of the two fittings left to install the other end of that line to the additional driver side caliper. Repeat the last two steps to complete the assembly; Thread one end of the last stainless steel braided line on the passenger side of your bulkhead TEE fitting. Thread the other end of that line to the additional passenger side caliper, using the last fitting from this kit. Add brake fluid in your reservoir, bleed your system, and you’re all set!

Why going for a stand alone dual hydro system if there’s an inline kit available?
When you’re pressing on the brake pedal with an inline system, the lever is hard to pull (since it shares the same fluid). The stand alone dual hydro offers you a totally seperate control of the rear wheels. Since the stand alone runs on his own fluid system, the hydraulic handbrake does not become harder to pull when on brakes. This makes for a much more steady and confident driving experience than inline. Learn more about our inline kit here : BMW Inline Hydro kit
