The Patina Rabbit

The famous “Perfect Patina” Mojave Beige that caught on fire in the summer of 2021. In case you haven’t heard of it when it was actual news, it had 39k miles when it came home to Tech-53. We gave him a new life with Weber carburetors and a ton of new parts.

Old school performance

As the Rabbit was running on the original paint, we decided that it needed an old-school engine rather than a powerful fuel-injected one. So the engine the Rabbit received 8V ABA with Weber carburetors, Fred’s specialty.

The Weber carburetors are what gives it its unique sound. You can hear the throttles opening up in Ron Gold’s video.

Bad luck

When it caught on fire, Gabriel was on his way home right after a classic Sunday meet at Epicure Market. It has been sitting still for the last months. The last owner gave a spare grill with the car, one of the only part of the car that truly got burned down.

Revival

As the shell is still in good shape, we plan on making this car run again. It is going to get a new engine and it will make head turns. Stay tuned.
